Tram in the Forest

Description

Another spring, another exploration of the scenery. I seem to take the habit of venturing out when the weather is getting warm.

Either way, someone has some explaining to do. As in, how does an old tram end up in the forest over 50 kilometers away from the only city with trams in the whole country? Beats me. Either way you look at it, this thing's been lying there probably 50 years or so. Maybe longer. Pretty much like that old car I photographed 4 years ago.

This village really has some mysteries lying around...

Update: I heard from my parents that there once live a former sailor in a nearby house. Apparently this man had transported the tram here to be a playhouse of sort.

The shown vehicle is build about in 1900 or before. It is only the upper carriage body. The chassis is absent. The cockpit has a roof but no windows. It looks like it never had. So it could be a tramway carriage from the time the tramway was horse-drawn or from the first generation of electric trams, when the driver was not yet protected against the weather. On the video the car number 50 is shown. The Nr 50 is build comparable, but already with weather protection for the driver. At the side there is still a badge. This could say, where this carriage was used before. It looks like it was brought there to be used as a garden pavilion.

In Helsinki the tramway was opened 1891 horse-drawn and since 1901 operated electrically. In Finland there where tramways in Turku and Viipuri too.

It would be nice, if this vehicle could be preserved.
